Santa Rosa City
Santa Rosa is a First Class City in Laguna Province. In 1994 it was dubbed "The Investment Capital of South Luzon".
Its location just 27 kilometers south of Manila via the South Luzon Expressway virtually made it a suburb of Metro Manila, but such has been its growth that new developments are now declaring their location to be in Metro Santa Rosa.
Progress really began to take off when the government established Special Economic Zones offering tax incentives to foreign companies investing in the Philippines.
A city is its people, and in 2005 the population of Santa Rosa overtook that of San Pablo to become the fourth largest city in Laguna after Calamba, San Pedro and Biñan.
Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi all have manufacturing plants in Santa Rosa, and Coca-Cola has its largest Philippine bottling plant here.
There are already four shopping malls in Santa Rosa: SM, Robinsons, Walter Mart and Target Mall, with more on the way as enormous new developments are completed.
One of them, Eton City, is described as "The Makati of the South". Another, Paseo de Santa Rosa, is a pleasant shopping and dining complex that's equally reminiscent of Makati.
Santa Rosa is also home to the biggest tourist attraction in the Philippines: Enchanted Kingdom. This exciting theme park delights thousands of visitors - adults and children alike - every month of the year.
Republic Act No. 9264, which was ratified by the citizens on July 10, 2004, officially upgraded Santa Rosa from a town to a city, and its growth continues at a truly amazing pace.
